Weave a Willow Lunch Basket with Cassandra Lishman £80

Weave your own lunch basket or handbag under the expert guidance of Cassandra Lishman – a local willow weaver with over 25 years worth of experience!

Using a square frame, you will weave a catalan base, then weave a 3 rod wale and some French randing, attach naturally tanned leather straps, and finish with a decorative border. Colour of the straps varies, and you have the option to use coloured willow as a feature too. Perfect as a lunch bag or a handbag! It can also be made with one longer across body strap!

The workshop will take place between 9.30am and 5pm, in the ground floor restaurant space at The Really Wild Emporium (refreshments will be available to purchase). Please note there is no designated parking immediately outside of The Really Wild Emporium.

Price per person: £80

Important Notes:

• You don’t need to have any previous experience or bring any equipment with you – though bringing your own secateurs will be useful.
• This workshop is not suitable for children under the age of 16  years old.
• In order to cover our costs we need to sell a minimum of 4 places per workshop. Should we not reach our minimum numbers we will unfortunately have to cancel the event. Please check your spam/junk email folders the day before your event to ensure we have not contacted you about a potential cancellation.

About Cassandra Lishman:
Cassandra has over 25 years worth of experience working with willow. From creating animal sculptures to honing her skills in basketry, she is passionate about creating, teaching, and spreading her love for this ancient craft. Cassandra has worked with a wide range of people, including developing projects with schools, and running workshops for people with learning disabilities, autistic people, people who are deaf, people with mental health problems, and people with dementia. Her teaching style aims to empower the innate creativity in every individual.
