Sourdough Workshop £35
£35.00
In this 75 min workshop, you will learn how to make low-gluten, super-easy rye sourdough bread & take home your own loaf to finish fermenting & bake, alongside your very own rye starter culture (& gluten-free starter if you’d like) to use forever more!
This workshop is designed to take the stress & confusion out of making sourdough bread. I’ve chosen rye because not only does it make a delicious loaf, but it’s extremely easy to make, requiring no kneading, & being low gluten, it’s also easier to digest than sourdough made with wheat flour.
We’ll begin – as always – with a tasting session, then follow with a brief description of the nature, process & benefits of sourdough bread (an in-depth handout including multiple recipes will be given at the end, to maximise hand on time during the workshop).
Next, we’ll make a loaf each, which can then be taken home to ferment & bake. All ingredients are provided, & in addition to this, participants will be given a jar of rye starter to take home & keep, to make an infinite number of future loaves. (The starter we’ll be using is my 15 year old pride & joy! Meaning it’s very well established & pretty resilient.)
We’ll then talk through & practise how to feed, build up & maintain the starter. I’ll talk through common trouble-shooting issues & answer any questions. All you need to bring is a large non-metallic bowl from home!
Important Notes:
- Price £35 per person
- This workshop is not suitable for children under the age of 13 years old (children aged 13 to 16 years old must be accompanied by another adult on the course)
- We need to sell a minimum of 5 places for this workshop to run. To give Lucy enough time to prepare the resources, we will stop online sales 5 days before the workshop is due to take place. Should we not reach our minimum numbers by this time, we will unfortunately have to cancel the event. Please check your spam/junk email folders the day before your event to ensure we have not contacted you about a potential cancellation. If online sales have finished, but you want to make a last minute booking, please call us to find out availability.
