Exploring Natural Dyes with Ffion Taverner £45

£45.00

Come and join us in an exploration of natural colour with local artist and natural dyer, Ffion Taverner, in this 3 hour workshop at The Really Wild Emporium.

We will focus on two dye plants grown by Hael Natural Colour in Pembrokeshire, learning the best way of extracting colour from them and understanding the colour they hold.

During the 3 hour session we will dye a selection of swatches on a variety of different natural
fabrics, seeing how the colours react differently. We will explore overdyeing and modifying to
extend our colour ranges, working with acid, alkali’s and metal salts to see how many shades
can be obtained with two dye plants.

Towards the end of the session we will create a small booklet with the dyed swatches, recording
our findings and breaking down the number of shades and recipes created. You will have your
own swatchbook of colours and a curiosity for more natural colour!

All materials are included, please bring your own notebook if you’d like to take more notes as well
as an apron/ clothes you are not too precious about!
