This course is orientated around fun and adventure, and is suited to foraging beginners and young explorers of all ages! Here we will look into the rock pools and discover the small wild creatures that live in them, such as shells and sea anemones, little crabs and maybe even some fish hiding between the rocks!
We will discover how our wild world has been shaped by nature, while we search for different seaweeds and talk about why they can be a great addition to our meals!
There is a maximum of two children per adult on this course and you are always responsible for their safety. Little ones can bring buckets and spades if they wish to explore a little deeper. The session will be structured around rock pooling, beach games and encouraging curiosity about our natural world!
When we meet up we’ll talk you through taking care on the seashore, how to respect the
tides and the weather, and how to explore and enjoy the seashore safely.
This session is run by Abbie; one of our foraging guides who has a current, enhanced DBS and previous background as a primary school teacher and level 3 forest school practitioner.
Special Notes:
- It is not possible to bring dogs on this session.
- We need to sell a minimum of 3 adult places for our public foraging courses to be able to run. Should the date you select not meet the minimum numbers, you will be offered alternative dates, a full refund, or to pay the private forage premium.
- If the course you want is fully booked, please email us with your desired ticket numbers and course date and we will see what we can do! We often have last minute cancellations, so we can add you to a waiting list in the event that this should happen.
- IMPORTANT: On your booking confirmation you will be sent a link for all participants to fill in our Participation Agreement and Consent Form. Please ensure this form link is forwarded to all members of your group booking. Participants under 18 years of age will need a parent or legal guardian to fill theirs in. This must be done BEFORE your session takes place.
Online ticket sales will end 24 hours before the session is due to take place. If you would like to enquire about a last minute booking, please call us on 01437 721755.
Our business is a Surfers Against Sewage plastic-free Silver champion and we are working towards our Gold Award.
Beach waste poses a serious threat to marine life and ecosystems. According to a report by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), plastic waste accounts for approximately 80% of all marine debris found on beaches globally and in a study conducted by the Ocean Conservancy, an estimated 8 million tons of plastic enter the oceans each year, of which 60% consists of single-use plastic items.
We invite everyone who joins us on our seashore foraging courses to pick up any rubbish they come across and drop it into our communal rubbish bag for us to dispose of responsibly.
