What is foraging like?

Foraging, by definition, is the act of searching wildly for food or provisions. For us, it’s become somewhat more personal, as it has simultaneously brought us closer to the beautiful surroundings of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and inspired a real passion for the food, drink and skincare products that we now produce.

Imagine a local supermarket that allows you to personally choose your ingredients whilst enjoying the fresh air, all while protecting the planet. That certainly sounds good to us, and that’s aside from the health benefits of foraging, including a level of nutrients not so easily delivered by shop-bought food and a level of freshness that is unchallenged elsewhere.

Each foraging adventure can be different from the last, as each season offers different opportunities and flavours. As you immerse yourself in the great outdoors, you’ll be surprised at just how much you’ve previously missed in your everyday routines. Foraging is usually accessible to all in some capacity; you just have to know where to look.

For many, foraging brings a community together. It provides the perfect excuse to explore an area, opening your senses to each and every feature as it may provide a new and exciting flavour. It’s an experience like no other.

The Wild About Pembrokeshire team celebrate nature, based at our Really Wild Emporium, set in the picturesque city of St Davids in Pembrokeshire, Wales. We may be the smallest city in the UK, but we offer a huge opportunity for those wanting to experience foraging and enjoy the benefits.

A fantastic way to experience foraging is to book onto one of our foraging courses. We can provide a variety of courses including the ancient byways around St Davids, the seashores or along the Cleddau estuary. There really is an option for everyone, allowing people of all ages to have a go. We’ll guide you every step of the way as we explore Pembrokeshire. As long as you arrive with warm clothing and suitable footwear, we will show you the rest.

The first thing people often think of when they imagine foraging is food. At the Really Wild Emporium, we showcase our foraged and locally sourced food and beverage products at our restaurant, so be sure to book in after your foraging course to relax and rest those tired legs. Your foraging education continues throughout, as the team will explain how your food and drinks were collected and prepared.

Our award-winning range of Really Wild skincare products can be found at our on-site shop. There are huge health benefits to using nature-made products, including no artificial ingredients or preservatives. Morally, our products are also advantageous with no animal testing and vegan options are also readily available.

Our Really Wild Emporium is a one-stop-shop for all things foraging. We would love to share our passion and knowledge with you, so you can experience the amazing natural benefits of foraging for yourself.
